When we take a look at the subject of life from the view of existence, it can be deduced that what makes everything in the world to have meaning is the presence of life. How would it be if the earth is only with unlimited stretch of land with mountains and other immovable? The earth will of course be like the first or second day of creation in the beginning when God began giving shape, and meaning to the earth; because birds, beasts or fishes were yet to be formed, neither was Adam present yet. But when life began to find expression in the beginning of the world, the reasons for the creation of immovable like land, water, mountain and the likes began to make meaning, and their use(s) to beast and man are filled with sense. In other words, life can be termed as a happening where all the creations of God come into harmony and oneness with one another.
The reason for the meaning of everything and the existence of life is because a being who is the originator of life made it possible. Anywhere that God surfaces, life is found there.
God loves us (the beings created in His image), humans, and so great is the love of God for us that He gave us life. He didn’t just give us life, but He promised us ‘‘Eternal Life.’’ Another word for Eternal Life is ‘‘Everlasting Life.’’ John 3:16(NKJV) perhaps can be termed as the most popular bible verse, and it says, ‘‘for God so love the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.’’ Verse 15 of John 3 used the word eternal life for those who believe in the Son of God.
The word eternal or everlasting means ‘‘never ending.’’ Eternal Life is the original purpose of God for man, even from the beginning before the fall of man in the Garden of Eden. However, thanks be to God that He released His Son as sacrifice for the sins of man. Eternal Life is the power of resurrection that swallows up death in victory. The first or second death (death of the mortal body & final destruction in the lake of fire) is swallowed up by Eternal Life when any one believes in the Son of God. It is the Eternal Life that is in us believers that will make us rise again with new glorious bodies at the coming of the Lord, (1 Corinthians 15:51-54).
Eternal Life is made manifest in us through the Spirit of God by which we have been sealed for the day of redemption, and it is the same Spirit that raise Christ up that will quicken our mortal bodies, (Ephesians 4:30, Romans 8:11, KJV). The understanding of Eternal Life to the un-discerning may only be in the fact of living forever and not dying; but indeed, it is extremely more than that. Through Eternal Life, we share the life of God with Him because he has freely given us. How can this be? It is because Eternal Life has given us the privilege to become children of God, and joint heirs with Christ, so that when Christ is being glorified by God, we also will be glorified with same glory together, (Romans 8:16-17, NKJV). And by this we know that the love of God is made manifest in us believers, for the Lord God has loved us with the love that He never extended to any other of His creations, yea, not even the angels in heaven.
